💼 What Is the NYS Programme?
This phase of the NYS programme is implemented by Youth Life, a nonprofit organization supporting children and youth affected by trauma or loss. As a participant, you will be placed at local schools and nonprofit organizations to assist with:
Arts & Culture projects
Sports facilitation
Learner support services
These are hands-on, impact-driven roles designed to build your skills and uplift your community.

The NYS programme is being rolled out in the following provinces:
Gauteng
Mpumalanga
North West
KwaZulu-Natal
Free State
Limpopo

🎯 Selection Criteria
To qualify for this programme, applicants must:
Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
Be between the ages of 18 – 35
Reside near the implementation site within the local municipality
Be easily accessible to the project site
Be unemployed and not in education or training (NEET)
Be committed to meaningful community service
Not have participated in any previous NYS phases
The programme strongly encourages applications from youth who have a passion for service and want to develop workplace skills.

⏳ Programme Duration
The programme runs for 6 months
You will complete a total of 384 hours, working 16 hours per week
This part-time setup allows flexibility while still offering real experience in service delivery.

💰 Stipend Details
Participants will earn a stipend of R23.19 per hour, paid monthly.
That equates to meaningful support for those seeking income while building experience — especially for youth affected by unemployment.

Youth Life is a nonprofit organisation supporting children and youth (ages 5–25) who have experienced bereavement, separation, divorce, or loss of a guardian. Their mission aligns with rebuilding and strengthening vulnerable youth across South Africa.
